Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of changing a website to ensure an increase in the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's unpaid results. This can often be referred to as organic search. Kadoosh supposes it's kind of like Quality Control for websites.

The most important factor, we believe, for SEO is the website itself. You can have as many links to your site as you can get, have as many keywords or great meta tags as you like, but if the quality of the content of the site is not relevant to the users search or there isn't enough of it(or too much in some cases), search engines will simply not rank it highly.

The Site
Of course the website itself is very important and the structure is also key. Making pages that load fast without large images is important too, making pages that draw attention is important and making sure the structure of the code is important so that search engines can easily index the site and crawl it with no problems. Create a barrier for a search engine and they will get frustrated.

Content
Make content useful, relevant and interesting. Again, having a website with 100 pages filled with content is great but when you ask ‘why am I not in the top 10’ the answer will generally be ‘because your content is poor’. We feel that the content is the single most important factor. Make this highly relevant to your search, make the content rich in information about your product or service and make sure you have a good amount of keywords in there (but not too many). There is even a great reason to state that adding an industry type blog to your website to increase this rich content is also a good idea.

If you make your content interesting, people share it, they like it, they promote it to their friends and family; they are your biggest asset. Google for instance promotes authority pages to the top of its rankings so you need to create pages that become authority pages. This involves writing content people find highly useful, because useful content is shared in blogs, social media platforms and more. Over time, Google picks up on these authority signals. This circle of rich shared content creates strong and sustainable Google rankings that will not only take you into the first page, it will keep you there.

If someone promises to get you to 'Number 1 in Google' straight away; the it is likely they are cheating the system and this will end up with your site being potentially blacklisted; something which you may never recover from.

Links
Inbound links (ones that come into your website) are important for your site but don't confuse quality with quantity and don't think about links in isolation from your content. It's very important to understand that having great content increases your chances of securing natural links from quality relevant pages. These types of links will help you the most.

Get Social
As mentioned above in the ‘Content’ section, sharing is powerful for your results. If you create content on your website then share it, get others to share it and make it interesting. Why bother with great content if nobody sees it. Many search engines give credence to shared content. Its simple really, if people share your content then it must be interesting, it must be worth sharing and therefore the search engines think its worth sharing.

Search engines no longer ask for some meta tags and say ‘ok you are number 1 you’ve got the most keywords’. In fact, most search engines ignore this to some extent now as other, more important things are used for ranking. Tags are a thing of the past, the future is Rich Content, Social Sharing, Link Building, Blogging and Site Structure.

In Summary
You need to do your homework and understand what kind of content potential customers are looking for. This will need a little research of some websites and content within your sector. Finding out how your competitors get into the top 10 helps you get into the top 10. Create a great site with informative, interesting and rich content. Create content people want and like and make it easy for them to share it. Do this and you'll start to see your website traffic increase.
